The Mosaic Covenant, was the Marriage Contract between God and Israel. Israel was NOT to worship any other ‘gods’ because YHWH considered idolatry to be spiritual ADULTERY! Of course YHWH Elohim is the ONLY True God, BUT, there were demonic entities that were being worshipped as ‘gods’ by multiple other people groups and nations. Israel was a married “woman” and was required to remain faithful to her “Husband”, who promised her enormous blessings if she did this.
- If Israel remained faithful, if she obeyed God’s Commandments and Ordinances, then God would bless the fruit of her harvests, the fruit of her wombs (children), the fruit of her livestock. God would protect her from her enemies, removing them from her presence. God would GIVE Israel the land of Canaan.
- But…if she was UNFAITHFUL, then she would NOT receive these blessings, and there would be drought killing off her crops and livestock, there would be illnesses and infertility taking her children, enemies would overtake her, enslave her, and she would be driven from the land, into exile. This was the Contract or agreement that Israel agreed upon with YHWH Elohim.
Even after Israel was brought into the Promised Land, the land of Canaan, she was warned many times NOT to worship these other ‘gods’. This is one of the reasons that the Israelites were instructed to drive out and even destroy the Canaanite people. But did Israel listen? NO! After all, the generation that had said “yes” to God’s Marriage Covenant had passed away, and this was a ‘new generation’ of Israelites who wasn’t there at Mt. Sinai, and did not heed the admonitions of their parents.
HIS story tells us that Joshua did a pretty good job destroying and driving out the Canaanites (who were part Nephilim and very evil) from the Promised Land. However, pockets of them still remained in the land after Joshua’s death. The Israelites, now spread throughout the land, did not drive out the remaining Canaanites, and even intermarried with them. The Israelites became very attracted to the Canaanite ‘gods’.
Baal was the dominant Canaanite “god” (demon/devil). The Hebrew word baal actually means “The Lord“, “husband” or “marriage.” The Canaanites believed that he brought fertility to the land and they attributed abundant harvests to this “god”. Baal is generally depicted as a man with the head and horns of a bull. Baal’s worshippers appeased him by sacrificing animals, including pigs or unclean animals.(YHWH details clean and unclean animals in the book of Leviticus. Pigs are unclean, possibly because they do not sweat and therefore toxins and parasites can build up inside of them). More importantly,Baal worshippers also offered human (CHILD) sacrifices. Child Sacrifice is an abomination to the true God YHWH Elohim!!!
The Canaanites also worshipped Asherah as the”fertility goddess”. Asherah was worshipped in various ways, including immoral ritual sex, often around what was known as an “Asherah Pole” or a Tree.
Baal and the sacrifice of children….
Somehow the Israelites thought that joining forces with the Canaanites and worshipping the Canaanite ‘gods’ was a good idea. But this did not work out well for them. We will soon see just how bad it got for Israel, who had been a nation founded by God, and then turned from Him into apostasy and idolatry.
We have to ask the question, could baal worship occur today, in the 21st century? What about in America? There have been two Historic nations that based their entire national identity on the God of the BIBLE…YHWH Elohim. One of those Nations was chosen by God (ISRAEL), and one of those nations CHOSE God (America).
Regardless of what the current mainstream Institutions (Academic/Media/Historic) try to tell people, America was founded as a Christian Nation, worshipping the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the Father of Yeshua, the Creator of the World. But the generations that recognized America as a Christian nation are “dying off”, and a new generation of people are rising in power. Times have changed, and the elite global power structure is attempting to change HIS STORY by teaching that America was never a Christian nation. At the same time, God is being kicked out of America’s public institutions under the guise of “Freedom FROM Religion” (oh, that’s right, it’s Freedom OF Religion”…but some would have you think it’s the former, not the latter. This has been like a locomotive, picking up steam every year. Honestly, this nation doesn’t even look like the same nation that I knew even 10 or 20 years ago!
Baal was Israel’s anti-god, their substitute for the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the god of their apostasy and the god of their destruction. Baal was their devil god. In fact the name for satan, Beelzebul and Beelzebub (New Testament), is derived from Baal –meaning “Baal of the flies” and “Baal of dung.”

Like Israel, America is turning to apostasy as she continues to slide further and further away from the God of Israel. So, could there be baal worship in America today? Could it sneak in without our knowing it? Can Americans, even Christians, be deceived?? Could we be honoring baal without realizing it? Is that possible?? 2nd Thessalonians 2: 3: Let no one in any way deceive you, for it will not come unless the apostasy comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction, 4 who opposes and exalts himself above every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, displaying himself as being God.
2nd Thessalonians 2: 6 And you know what restrains him now, so that in his time he will be revealed. 7 For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only he who now restrains will do so until he is taken out of the way. 8 Then that lawless one will be revealed whom the Lord will slay with the breath of His mouth and bring to an end by the appearance of His coming; 9 that is, the one whose coming is in accord with the activity of Satan, with all power and signs and false wonders, 10 and with all the deception of wickedness for those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth so as to be saved.
11 For this reason God will send upon them a deluding influence so that they will believe what is false, 12 in order that they all may be judged who did not believe the truth, but took pleasure in wickedness.

One of the centers of Baal worship in ancient times was Palmyra, Syria. The city contained not one but two prominent temples to Baal. The Romans erected an arch there to lead to the Temple of Baal. So the worshipers of Baal would walk through the arch and approach the temple in which they would venerate their god. This arch that led to the Temple of Baal was reproduced down to the smallest detail and erected in New York City.
It was erected in the park outside City Hall. It sat covered in a giant sheet to keep it cloaked until the time of its unveiling. Seats were set up around the veiled arch so that leaders and dignitaries could watch. Before the moment of unveiling, a live band began playing Middle Eastern music. As one listened to the drumbeat, one could imagine similar music being played as worshipers ascended the ancient Temple of Baal.
