The Lord placed it in my spirit to understand the plagues mentioned in the Bible…what brought them about, how long they lasted, what caused God to stop them. On this page, we will briefly look at the major Biblical plagues to get a better understanding of them so perhaps we can better understand what we’re dealing with now (Corona Virus), at least from a Spiritual perspective.
In this study, we will differentiate between the plagues that struck those who do NOT worship YHWH and are NOT in Covenant with HIM….and those WHO claim to WORSHIP YHWH and ARE IN COVENANT WITH HIM. God sent plagues both to Israelites (Covenant partners) and non-Israelites (not in Covenant); however, we will discover that the purposes of the plagues were different, as well as the duration, scope and severity. One reason this is the case is that the Israelites had intercessors (Moses, David, Prophets). The same is true today as Believers have ONE who intercedes for us…Jesus Christ (Messiah), the SON of the LIVING GOD (YHWH).
Plagues that affected non-Israelites (Nations not in Covenant with YHWH)
Plague of Pharoah’s household…Let Sarai GO!
The first plague that we see specifically mentioned in the Bible occured in Genesis 12, although some could argue that the DNA modification scheme when the fallen angels had intercourse with human women in Genesis 6 was also a plague of sorts. In Genesis 12, God told Abram (Abraham) and his wife Sarai to travel to the land of Canaan, a land that God would be giving Abraham and his descendants (Land of Promise). While on their journey, there was a terrible famine, so Abram and Sarai went down to Egypt to escape the famine. Now one could argue that this was a terrible mistake; however, God uses our mistakes to bring about HIS Divine purposes. While sojourning in the land of Egypt, the Egyptian Pharoah and his servants discovered that Sarai was a very beautiful woman. Pharoah decided to kidnap her and take her into his harem. In order to save his own life, Abram told Pharoah that Sarai was his sister. This wasn’t totally a lie as Sarai was indeed the half-sister or niece of Abram.
Sarai was kidnapped and taken by force to be a part of Pharoah’s harem. Because of Abram’s “lie”, he was allowed to live, and Pharoah even gave him many riches as a type of bartering in the attempt to legitimize a wicked, kidnapping – rape scheme.
The kidnapping of Sarai harkens back to the story in Genesis 6 (pre-flood), when the fallen angels kidnapped beautiful human women and made them “wives” (forced them into “marriage/sex”). Their “union” created WICKED, EVIL HYBRID OFFSPRING, the nephilim (giants), or half fallen angel, half human. When the Nephilim DIED…their disembodied spirits remained on earth and are today what we call DEMONS.
Demons are always looking to inhabit a human host body because they no longer have their own bodies. A demon CAN possess the body of a non-believer. They cannot possess the body of a TRUE BELIEVER in Jesus Christ because the Holy Spirit takes up residence in the True Believer, causing the demon to FLEE. Christians can be OPPRESSED by demons (harassed by them)…but they cannot be POSSESSED. A demon inhabiting the body of a non-believer is what we call DEMONIC POSSESSION…something that was prevalent in the days of Jesus and is still prevalent today. In modern times, we tend to label demonic possession as a mental illness or a psychosis. Not all mental illnesses involve demonic possession, but many do, especially those that originated in the use of illegal, mind-altering DRUGS (PHARMAKEA).
Pharoah’s kidnapping of Sarai in Genesis 12 was very similar to the Genesis 6 account. The Egyptian Pharoahs thought of themselves as “gods”…and were very active in the occult. How did God respond? God sent “GREAT PLAGUES” on Pharoah’s household until he let Sarai GO. The Bible doesn’t tell us how long the plague lasted or what happened after Pharoah let Sarai go. The plague must have been pretty severe because Pharoah gave not only gave Abraham back his wife…but also let him leave with great wealth.

Genesis 12:17-20: ”But the LORD afflicted Pharaoh and his house with great plagues because of Sarai, Abram’s wife. So Pharaoh called Abram and said, ‘What is this you have done to me? Why did you not tell me that she was your wife? Why did you say, ‘She is my sister, so that I took her for my wife?’ Now then, here is your wife; take her, and go.’ And Pharaoh gave men orders concerning him, and they sent him away with his wife and all that he had.”
Ten Plagues of Egypt – “Let my people GO”
The next series of plagues is found in the book of Exodus, the 10 plagues of Egypt. These plagues were God’s direct judgment on the Egyptian ‘gods’…and the Egyptian Pharoah. They affected ALL of Egypt. In those days, the Egyptian Pharoah had made the Hebrews slaves. God used 10 plagues to “convince” Pharoah to let the Hebrews GO FREE.
Philistines’ plague of tumors for stealing the ARK – Let the ARK GO!
Another story of plague is when the Philistines took the Ark of the Covenant from it’s “home” in Shiloh. God allowed them to take it because Israel had sinned so badly and fallen into idolatry. The Philistines put the Ark next to a statue of their “god” Dagon as a spoil of war. God’s sense of humor was seen in this situation because every morning the Philistines would wake, they would find the statue of their “god” Dagon toppled over on his face, eventually with his hands broken off and also his head..and only his torso was left. After this, God send a plague of tumors on the Philistines until they RETURNED the ARK of the Covenant to ISRAEL.
1 Samuel 5:1: Now the Philistines took the ark of God and brought it from Ebenezer to Ashdod.
6 Now the hand of the Lord was heavy on the Ashdodites, and He made them feel devastated and struck them with tumors, both Ashdod and its territories. 7 When the men of Ashdod saw that it was so, they said, “The ark of the God of Israel must not remain with us, because His hand is severe on us and on Dagon our god.”
8 So they sent word and gathered all the governors of the Philistines to them, and said, “What shall we do with the ark of the God of Israel?” And they said, “Have the ark of the God of Israel brought to Gath.” So they took the ark of the God of Israel away. 9 After they had taken it away, the hand of the Lord was against the city, creating a very great panic; and He struck the people of the city, from the young to the old, so that tumors broke out on them.
10 So they sent the ark of God to Ekron. And as the ark of God came to Ekron, the Ekronites cried out, saying, “They have brought the ark of the God of Israel to us, to kill us and our people!” 11 Therefore they sent word and gathered all the governors of the Philistines, and said, “Send away the ark of the God of Israel and let it return to its own place, so that it will not kill us and our people!” For there was a deadly panic throughout the city; the hand of God was very heavy there. 12 And the people who did not die were struck with tumors, and the outcry of the city went up to heaven.
In all of the cases, Genesis 12 (Sarai taken into “slavery”), Exodus 12 (the Israelites were slaves in Egypt), and in 1 Samuel 5, God used PLAGUES to judge non-Israelites (unbelievers) who CURSED ISRAEL. God used plagues to “convince” PAGAN RULERS to release HIS PEOPLE and HIS ARK from captivity. These were severe plagues that were not sent to draw the people’s hearts BACK to God, but rather to commence wrath and judgment and to cause the evil, wicked schemers to RELEASE that which BELONGS to GOD.
In His Word, God states very clearly that HE will BLESS those who BLESS ISRAEL and CURSE those who CURSE ISRAEL. These words remain as TRUE TODAY as they did the day that God spoke them to Abraham, the “Father” of Israel. Also true..From Abraham’s lineage, God HAS blessed all of the earth through the PROMISED SEED of Genesis 3, the MESSIAH YAHUSHUA (JESUS CHRIST).💖
There is one aspect of a nation being cursed with a plague that is shared by both believers (Israelites) and Nonbelievers (pagan Gentiles), and that is that the sins of the leader (Pharoah/King) can bring plagues, suffering and death to all of the people in their “kingdom”. We see this BOTH with the Pharoah of Egypt and also with Israel’s King David.
One might argue…That isn’t fair, why should the people have to pay for the sins of the leader?
Romans 9:22 What if God, although willing to demonstrate His wrath and to make His power known, endured with great patience objects of wrath prepared for destruction? 23 And He did so to make known the riches of His glory upon objects of mercy, which He prepared beforehand for glory
Luke 13:1: Now on that very occasion there were some present who reported to Him about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mixed with their sacrifices. 2 And Jesus responded and said to them, “Do you think that these Galileans were worse sinners than all the other Galileans just because they have suffered this fate?
3 No, I tell you, but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish. 4 Or do you think that those eighteen on whom the tower in Siloam fell and killed them were worse offenders than all the other people who live in Jerusalem? 5 No, I tell you, but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish.”
We must understand that God is COMPLETELY FAIR and JUST…and His purposes are far greater than what we can currently COMPREHEND with our tiny, finite human brains. The fact is that ALL have sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God. The wages of sin is death so EVERY HUMAN BEING ON EARTH deserves the death penalty. However, God in HIS MERCY is calling HIS PEOPLE to HIMSELF..to repent from sin and escape eternal death. Many are called, but only few are chosen.
If God used Plagues to curse those who cursed Israel and to convince unbelievers to RETURN what RIGHTFULLY BELONGED TO GOD in the first place, then what is the purpose of sending plagues to ISRAEL (Believers)?
Note: In this post we are speaking about two groups of people as though they were one…”Believers” and “Israel”. We understand that at this time most of Israel (Jewish people) do not BELIEVE in their Messiah Yahushua (Jesus), but the Bible tells us that for many Jewish people, this will soon change. In the New Testament Paul states that those gentiles (non-Jews) who BELIEVE in MESSIAH YAHUSHUA (JESUS) and make HIM Lord of their lives are “grafted into” Israel, and are a part of Israel. For this reason, we differentiate only between those peoples and nations who do not believe in nor follow YHWH or HIS MESSIAH YAHUSHUA (unbelievers) and those who do (“Israel/Believers”)
Galatians 3:29 And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s descendants, heirs according to promise.
Romans 11:17 But if some of the branches were broken off, and you, being a wild olive, were grafted in among them and became partaker with them of the rich root of the olive tree,
Israel has experienced MANY plagues; however, we will discover that the REASON God sent plagues to Israel is different than the reason He sent plagues to the Gentile pagan nations. When God sent a plague to Israel, the purpose of the plague was to TURN the hearts of the Israelites to REPENTANCE from SIN and back to GOD. Also, Israel always had an intercessor who went before the Lord seeking God’s MERCY. Pagan nations who do not believe in nor follow YHWH OR his Messiah YAHUSHUA (JESUS) have no such intercessor or advocate for them in the courts of GOD.
Having an intercessor who pleads your case before Almighty God YHWH is one of the MANY benefits and blessings of being in COVENANT with God. On this side of the Cross, Jesus Christ is the ONLY INTERCESSOR who goes before YHWH’s throne on behalf of God’s people..
Romans 8:33 Who will bring charges against God’s elect? God is the one who justifies; 34 who is the one who condemns? Christ Jesus is He who died, but rather, was raised, who is at the right hand of God, who also intercedes for us.
Hebrews 4:14 Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let’s hold firmly to our confession. 15 For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all things just as we are, yet without sin.
16 Therefore let’s approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace for help at the time of our need.
In Leviticus 26, God entered into Covenant (Mosaic/Law) with Israel. YHWH GOD told Israel He would greatly bless them if they followed Him and obeyed His commandments; HOWEVER, if Israel disobeyed, they would receive CURSES.
One of the curses that disobedient Israel would receive is plague. (Plague, famine, sword).
It is very important to understand that YHWH is a COVENANT GOD. The churches do not do a very good job of teaching this. God will always honor HIS COVENANTS (agreement/binding contract)..and HE expects HIS COVENANT PARTNERS to do their best to honor His Covenant (albiet not to His level of perfection).
- The Nation of Israel (Jewish people) are still in the Mosaic Covenant (Covenant of LAW). YHWH has partially blinded their eyes to their Messiah until the fullness of the Gentiles comes in. The Covenant of Law is growing old and is ready to disappear…..will be fully done away with when Israel’s eyes are opened at the return of Jesus Christ. (Hebrews 8:13)
- The Lost 10 Tribes of Israel are no longer in the Mosaic Covenant because YHWH divorced them (Jeremiah 3:8). They are now as a Gentile in the eyes of YHWH. (Hosea 8:8)
- All PEOPLE (GENTILES and JEWS) are INVITED to be a part of the NEW Covenant (Jesus Christ). This is a Covenant with INDIVIDUALS and not with an entire NATION.
- At the end of the age the Jewish people must also enter into the NEW COVENANT to be saved, the Old Covenant (Mosaic) is obsolete and is passing away.
- The NEW COVENANT is the only Covenant that can SAVE (Gospel of Jesus Christ) and grant ETERNAL LIFE. It is an everlasting Covenant. (Jer. 31:31-33, Jer. 32:40)
God’s Covenant warning to ISRAEL
In Leviticus 26, God used Moses to share the terms of His Covenant of LAW (Mosaic) with the Israelites. Obedience would bring about major blessings including fertile lands, fertile and healthy people, protection from enemies, and God’s presence with them. However, disobedience would bring the opposite – curses and chastisement. Plague and sickness was one of the curses. Repentence lessens the curse, but where there’s no repentence, the chastisement grows more severe. The final punishment is exile. HIS story tells us that Israel chose disobedience and were ultimately exiled from their land.
As fallen human beings, we are ALL LIVING IN EXILE…outside of Paradise, the Garden of Eden and Heaven. There is only one way “back in”..and that is Jesus Christ.
Leviticus 26:14 ‘But if you do not obey Me and do not carry out all these commandments, 15 if, instead, you reject My statutes, and if your soul loathes My ordinances so as not to carry out all My commandments, but rather to break My covenant, 16 I, in turn, will do this to you: I will summon a sudden terror against you, consumption and fever that will make the eyes fail and the soul languish; also, you will sow your seed uselessly, for your enemies will eat it.
17 And I will set My face against you so that you will be defeated before your enemies; and those who hate you will rule over you, and you will flee when no one is pursuing you. 18 If also after these things you do not obey Me, then I will punish you seven times more for your sins. 19 I will also break down your pride of power; and I will make your sky like iron and your earth like bronze. 20 Your strength will be consumed uselessly, for your land will not yield its produce and the trees of the land will not yield their fruit
21 ‘Yet if you show hostility toward Me and are unwilling to obey Me, I will increase the plague on you seven times according to your sins. 22 I will also let loose among you the animals of the field, which will deprive you of your children and eliminate your cattle, and reduce your number so that your roads become deserted.
23 ‘And if by these things you do not learn your lesson regarding Me, but you show hostility toward Me, 24 then I in turn will show hostility toward you; and I, even I, will strike you seven times for your sins. 25 I will also bring upon you a sword which will execute vengeance for the covenant; and when you gather together into your cities, I will send a plague among you, so that you will be handed over to the enemy. 2
When Israel entered into the Mosaic Covenant with God (YHWH), they agreed to His Covenant terms (Exodus 19:8) – blessings for obedience and curses for disobedience. Leviticus 26 shows us that God PROMISED CURSES to ISRAEL for disobedience, and those curses would increase in severity if Israel ignored God’s chastisement. One of the curses was plagues SO SEVERE THAT Israel would be handed over to their enemies. The final curse is exile. The northern 10 tribes of Israel sinned so badly that they were not only sent into exile in Assyria, but God “divorced” them and they are no longer in the Mosaic Covenant with God (Jeremiah 3:8)
Jeremiah 3:8: And I saw that for all the adulteries of faithless Israel (Nothern 10 tribes Israel / Samaria), I had sent her away and given her a certificate of divorce, yet her treacherous sister Judah (Jewish people/Jerusalem) did not fear; but she went and prostituted herself also.
Hosea 8:8 Israel is swallowed up: now shall they be among the Gentiles as a vessel wherein is no pleasure.
There would have been no hope for the northern lost 10 tribes of Israel to have any relationship with YHWH, but God, in His mercy offers them the same Grace that He is offering ALL Gentiles and Jews – ETERNAL LIFE through the Messiah Jesus.
The New Covenant is a BETTER Covenant with BETTER promises.
Romans 9:25: as He also says in Hosea: “I WILL CALL THOSE WHO WERE NOT MY PEOPLE, ‘MY PEOPLE,’ AND HER WHO WAS NOT BELOVED, ‘BELOVED.’”
Hebrews 8:6: But now He (JESUS CHRIST) has obtained a more excellent ministry, to the extent that He is also the mediator of a better covenant, which has been enacted on better promises.
Plagues on Israel because of SIN / COVENANT BREAKING
After God parted the Red Sea, helping Israel to escape the massive Egyptan army, Israel came to the foot of Mount Sinai, where YHWH entered into Covenant with them. After the “marriage Covenant”, Moses ascended the Mountain to receive the ten commandments. While Moses was gone (40 days)….the Israelites grew bored and decided to melt down the gold and silver that the Egyptans had given them during their departure and make a golden idol, a calf (form of Egyptian ‘god’)…to worship, dance, and “revel” around. God grew very angry and sent a plague on all those who committed this sin.
Exodus 32: 33 However, the Lord said to Moses, “Whoever has sinned against Me, I will wipe him out of My book. 34 But go now, lead the people where I told you. Behold, My angel shall go before you; nevertheless on the day when I punish, I will punish them for their sin.” 35 Then the Lord struck the people with a plague, because of what they did with the calf which Aaron had made.
There was also the situation where God was supplying manna (bread from Heaven) to the Israelites in the wilderness, but the Israelites were not satisfied. They grumbled and complained and demanded meat. Moses was so upset at the Israelite’s unreasonable demands that he begged God to kill him. Moses just couldn’t bear listening to the Israelites’ complaints any longer. God gave the Israelites meat, but He was so angry with them for murmering and griping and demoralizing His chosen leader Moses that GOD sent a plague.
Numbers 11: 31 Now a wind burst forth from the Lord and it brought quail from the sea, and dropped them beside the camp, about a day’s journey on this side and a day’s journey on the other side all around the camp, and about two cubits deep on the surface of the ground. 32 And the people spent all that day, all night, and all the next day, and they gathered the quail (the one who gathered least gathered ten homers) and spread them out for themselves all around the camp. 33 While the meat was still between their teeth, before it was chewed, the anger of the Lord was kindled against the people, and the Lord struck the people with a very severe plague. 34 So that place was named Kibroth-hattaavah, because there they buried the people who had been greedy.
There is another instance in the book of Numbers where the Prophet Balaam tried to sell his “services” to curse Israel for Moab’s King Balak. However, God made it so that Balaam could not curse Israel because God had BLESSED Israel. That which God had BLESSED could not be cursed. What did Balaam do? He discovered a LOOPHOLE. IF Israel SINNED…then God would curse them. He shared this “information” with the Moabite King Balak who was extremely happy to bring temptation into the camp of Israel and encourage them to sin. Israel did not resist the temptation, and fell headlong into sexual sin with the Moabite women and also idolatry (worshipping the Moabite “gods). How did God react? God sent a PLAGUE into ISRAEL.
Numbers 25 1-3 While Israel was camped at Shittim (Acacia Grove), the men (Israelite) began to have sex with the Moabite women. It started when the women invited the men to their sex-and-religion worship. They ate together and then worshiped their gods. Israel ended up joining in the worship of the Baal of Peor. God was furious, his anger blazing out against Israel.
Numbers 25:6-9: Just then, while everyone was weeping in penitence at the entrance of the Tent of Meeting, an Israelite man, flaunting his behavior in front of Moses and the whole assembly, paraded a Midianite woman into his family tent. Phinehas son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, saw what he was doing, grabbed his spear, and followed them into the tent. With one thrust he drove the spear through the two of them, the man of Israel and the woman, right through their midsections. That stopped the plague from continuing among the People of Israel. But 24,000 had already died.
1 Corinthians 10:6 Now these things happened as examples for us, so that we would not crave evil things as they indeed craved them. 7 Do not be idolaters, as some of them were; as it is written: “The people sat down to eat and to drink, and rose up to play.” 8 Nor are we to commit sexual immorality, as some of them did, and twenty-three thousand fell in one day. (PLAGUE)
Another example of Israel’s disobedience occurred in the book of Numbers. Moses sent TWELVE SPIES (ONE from each tribe of Israel) to spy out the land of Canaan that God had promised ISRAEL. The spies saw that the Nephilim (sons of Anak/Literal Giants) were living in the Promised Land. When the 12 spies came back with their “REPORT”, ten of them were quaking in their boots. No way, they did not think YHWH could hand over these GIANT enemies into their hands! 😱 Only Joshua and Caleb (two of the 12 spies) were like “Yea, they’re big and bad…but OUR God is BIGGER and with HIM all things are possible!” 🙏 God was so angry with the ten “spies” who brought back the bad report, He wanted to send a plague on all Israel and wipe them out. Moses interceded, and God relented with only the ten spies who stirred up a rebellion against God dying of the plague. The remainder of the Israelites who had believed the bad report…were sentenced to wander in the wilderness for forty years. God would not bring the Israelites into the Promised land UNTIL that generation died and the new generation were adults.
Numbers 14:36: As for the men whom Moses sent to spy out the land, and who returned and led all the congregation to grumble against him by bringing a bad report about the land, 37 those men who brought the bad report of the land also died by a plague in the presence of the Lord. 38 But Joshua the son of Nun and Caleb the son of Jephunneh remained alive out of those men who went to spy out the land.
There is one more very important story regarding a plague that struck the nation of Israel that we need to discuss. In the book of 1st Chronicles 21 King David sinned against the Lord by taking a census of Israel.
1 Chronicles: 21:1: Then Satan stood up against Israel and incited David to count Israel
God had instructed Moses hundreds of years earlier concerning any census taken among the Israelite’s…
God said: “When you take the census of the children of Israel for their number, then every man shall give a ransom for himself to the Lord, when you number them, that there be no plague among them when you number them.
Exodus 30:11: The Lord also spoke to Moses, saying, 12 “When you take a census of the sons of Israel to count them, then each one of them shall give a ransom for himself to the Lord, when you count them, so that there will be no plague among them when you count them.4 Everyone who is counted, from twenty years old and over, shall give the contribution to the Lord. 15 The rich shall not pay more, and the poor shall not pay less, than the half shekel, when you give the contribution to the Lord to make atonement for yourselves.
16 And you shall take the atonement money from the sons of Israel and give it for the service of the tent of meeting, so that it may be a memorial for the sons of Israel before the Lord, to make atonement for yourselves.”
A census put Israel at risk of plague because a census (a numbering) signified ownership. This spoke against God’s ownership of Israel, because in their thinking, a man only had the right to count or number what belonged to him. Israel didn’t belong to Israel; Israel belonged to God. It was up to Him to command a counting. . If a count was made without receiving the ransom money, a census communicated the idea that a king or a human leader owned Israel when God alone did. This was King David’s sin.
The ransom money spoke clearly: everyone owes God; everyone is obligated to Him. “The Lord commanded that every male over twenty years of age should pay half a shekel as redemption money, confessing that he deserved to die, owning that he was in debt to God, and bringing the sum demanded as a type of a great redemption which would by-and-by be paid for the souls of the sons of men.”

King David did not teach the sons of Israel about the required ransom money and therefore lead them into sin. David’s pride caused him to number the sons of Israel…Taking a census was a way of not only flattering himself and making a name for himself, but also a way to raise an army for himself. However, God had not given him any reason to go into battle, so numbering the men may have only been a display of David’s pride and ambition.
Because David was a man after God’s own heart and he repented, God gave David a choice of which consequence he would choose for Israel. David chose the plague and 70,000 men died as a result.
1 Chronicles 21: 11: So Gad came to David and said to him, “This is what the Lord says: ‘Take for yourself 12 three years of famine, or three months to be swept away before your foes (war) while the sword of your enemies overtakes you, or else three days of the sword of the Lord: a plague in the land, and the angel of the Lord destroying throughout the territory of Israel.’ Now, therefore, consider what answer I shall bring back to Him who sent me.” 13 David said to Gad, “I am in great distress; please let me fall into the hand of the Lord, for His mercies are very great. But do not let me fall into human hands.”
14 So the Lord sent a plague on Israel; seventy thousand men of Israel fell.
A King or leader of a nation or people can be the cause of a plague coming onto the land. This can happen when a non-believing king curses Israel or takes something from Israel that belongs to God, as in the case of the Egyptian Pharoah. It can also happen when a believing king causes the Israelites to sin as was the case with King David. Sadly, our leaders can bring this curse upon us without our ever knowing about it because of something that they may have done behind closed doors.
Now, about the Corona Virus plague that has overtaken our world. It is our belief that God did not send this plague. This plague was created in a laboratory by the enemy (satan) and is being used by him to destroy the “Old World Order”…so that he can bring in the “New World Order”. However, God has allowed this. Our God YHWH is so powerful, He could have wiped this plague out with a single thought, a single breath, a single word. But He hasn’t. Our Father has allowed the plague to stand.….Why?
It seems like there is a combination of things going on here.
- Believers are never satisfied with God’s goodness. We want prosperity, wealth, fame, fortune. We are raising an entire generation of the “entitled”. (believing oneself to be inherently deserving of privileges or special treatment.)
- Believers are turning away from the Word of God. There are Gay pride parades in Israel, Drag Queen Story hours in Churches…and many leaders in the Churches and the synagogues sanctioning sin under the guise of “inclusion”. They have gone the way of Balaam.
- Concurrently, there are pagan world leaders conspiring against Israel which could be one reason why the JB regime in America just “accidentally” armed the Taliban to the teeth.
- One more thing, we are at the End of Days. Jesus Himself warned us about the end of days plagues.
- YHWH, YAHUSUHA, RUACH HAKODESH (FATHER/SON/SPIRT) GOD…wants us to TRUST HIM that HE will DEFEAT THE GIANTS.
Matthew 24:12: And because iniquity (sin/lawlessness) shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.
Luke 21: 10 Then said he unto them, Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: 11 And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven.
Some may argue that these types of “curses” do not apply to the New Testament believer because the NEW COVENANT is an unconditional Covenant that only offers GRACE and BLESSINGS. God promises to forgive our sins through the shed blood of Jesus Christ and cleanse us from all unrighteousness….but God requires nothing from us…right? We can sin all we want and God’s Grace has us covered? Yea?…no – false. When we enter into the NEW COVENANT Jesus is supposed to be both SAVIOR and LORD. We have a responsibility to repent of sin, and through the leading of the HOLY SPIRIT – GROW IN GRACE and the KNOWLEDGE OF JESUS CHRIST. (2 Peter 3:18)
2 Peter 3:17: Therefore, [let me warn you] beloved, knowing these things beforehand, be on your guard so that you are not carried away by the error of unprincipled men [who distort doctrine] and fall from your own steadfastness [of mind, knowledge, truth, and faith], 18 but grow [spiritually mature] in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be glory (honor, majesty, splendor), both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.
Hebrews 10: 28 He that despised Moses’ law died without mercy under two or three witnesses:
29 How much more severe punishment do you think he will deserve who has trampled underfoot the Son of God, and has regarded as unclean the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified, and has insulted the Spirit of grace? 30 For we know Him who said, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay.” And again, “The Lord will judge His people.” 31 It is a terrifying thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
God does not use a plague to turn unbelievers back to HIM. A plague for an unbeliever is just that…a plague, likely caused by their ungodly leaders who have cursed Israel. 😥 God causes ALL THINGS to work for the GOOD of those who LOVE HIM, not for those who DON’T. God knows that MOST unbelievers will never repent, no matter what. The book of Revelation makes that crystal clear. God pretty much allows the unbeliever to “sin all they want”, because He has given them over to a reprobrate mind. He will not intervene, He will not put up “divine bumpers”…but allows them to sin (appearing to even prosper in their sin)...that is, until it is time for His Wrath. The unbeliever will eventually fall under God’s Wrath, which is going to be far more severe than His Chastisement. They do not have a “free pass”, even though it may look that way for now. God is giving them enough rope to hang themselves. 😲
Romans 1:28: And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God or consider Him worth knowing [as their Creator], God gave them over to a depraved mind, to do things which are improper and repulsive, 29 until they were filled (permeated, saturated) with every kind of unrighteousness, wickedness, greed, evil; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, malice and mean-spiritedness.
Acts 17:30 Therefore God overlooked and disregarded the former ages of ignorance; but now He commands all people everywhere to repent [that is, to change their old way of thinking, to regret their past sins, and to seek God’s purpose for their lives], 31 because He has set a day when He will judge the inhabited world in righteousness by a Man (jesus christ) whom He has appointed and destined for that task, and He has provided credible proof to everyone by raising Him from the dead.”
God desires that the unbeliever repent, but HE knows that most of them will not.😥 There are some unbelievers who will repent, and God knows them by name. He will call out to them and save them.💖God (YHWH) loves all people, BUT the vast majority of the world does not reciprocate God’s love.
However, for the BELIEVER…God is using this Corona Virus plague to AWAKEN HIS PEOPLE, as many as will HEAR HIS VOICE. For the Believer, God uses ALL THINGS, including plagues, famine, and sword…for the GOOD of those who LOVE HIM…who are in COVENANT with HIM. God is saying……”REPENT, Come back to Me”…There is still some TIME left, but not much! Please come to JESUS NOW! Soon the door will close. JESUS is saying “I AM COMING SOON!!!
2 Chronicles 7: 14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.💖
Malachi 3: 8 “Would anyone rob God? Yet you are robbing Me! But you say, ‘How have we robbed You?’ In tithes and offerings. 9 You are cursed with a curse, for you are robbing Me, the entire nation of you! 10 Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, so that there may be food in My house, and put Me to the test now in this,” says the Lord of armies, “if I do not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you a blessing until it overflows.
11 Then I will rebuke the devourer for you, so that it will not destroy the fruit of your ground; nor will the vine in the field prove fruitless to you,” says the Lord of armies.
