I canât tell you how grieved my spirit is at the widespread nature of the âemergent Churchâ heresy. This is beyond apostasyâŚthis is flat-out heresy. A heresy is something that explicitely undermines the Gospel. Researching this doctrine of demons has been shocking to say the least. In previous posts, we discussed the apostasy of the luke-warm, âseeker-sensitiveâ movement in the church. The EMERGENT CHURCH MOVEMENT makes that luke-warm spirit (seeker sensitive church) seem like authentic Christianity! It is THAT BAD! It is that deceptive! It is that popular! And it is going to lure MILLIONS of âChristiansâ down the wide road that leads to total destruction and anhilation!
In Roger Oaklandâs book âFaith Undoneâ he notes that this âmove away from the truth of Godâs Word to a mystical form of Christianity has infiltrated, to some degree, nearly ALL EVANGELICAL DENOMINATIONS!!! This is not a small error in a few churches. This HERESY is so wide-spread that it is being promoted by most Christian publishers, taught at MANY Christian seminiaries and Bible colleges and is even being endorsed by very popular âevangelicalâ leaders! âChristianity Todayâ, a well-respected, widely read Christian magazine, is even pushing this âmystical Christianityâ trend.
The Bible tells us that in the Last Days there will be MANY false teachers and false prophets roaming around teaching people âdoctrines of demonsâ. These teachers are very alluring, introducing seductive heresies that deny the TRUE Lord Jesus Christ and insult the spirit of Grace by preaching a âdifferent Gospel/different Jesusâ. They are wolves in sheepâs clothing.đş
Matthew 24:25:  For false christs and false prophets will arise and will provide great signs and wonders, so as to mislead, if possible, even the elect.
2 Peter 2:1: But there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the sovereign Lord who bought themâbringing swift destruction on themselves.
I have often wondered how false teachers could creep into the Church so easily since the Bible warns us about this very thing. Once the warning goes out, one would think that Pastors, teachers and even lay-people (ordinary Christians) would be on guard against false teaching of any kind. Apparently, they donât really BELIEVE the Word of God, for if they did, they would NOT stray into these occultic practices.
many of our modern teachers and authors (false teachers often write books about the false doctrines they promote) are the very ones the apostle paul warned us about 2000 years ago. Christian authors who incorporate at least some mystical elements are becoming the norm rather than the exception. These are slick snake-oil salesmen who know how to make something that is really anti-Christ masquerade as legitimate Christianity. Their words are alluring, seductive, enticing⌠appealing to our flesh. Because many Christians do not read or follow their Bibles, they fall easy prey to these kind of false-teachings.
The emergent Church basically began a few decades ago in the 1950âs, gained alot of popularity in the 1990âs, and has since then spread itâs tentacles into practically every Christian denomination. What is it? It is a type of Christianity that replaces the Word of God with Mystical experiences that involve our 5 senses â taste, touch, sight, sound, smell. This is what proponents call the âpost modern mindsetâ. Before we âname namesâ, just know that those who profess this type of non-Biblical Christianity are promoting something called âSpiritual formationâ that includes contemplative spirituality or contemplative (centering) prayer. Courses in âSpiritual formationâ are being taught at many Christian seminaries as huge numbers seek to become certified as âspiritual directorsâ.
What they teach is that if you âdo certain practicesâ you can get close to God and emulate Him. They teach that ANYONE can practice these âmystical rituals and find âGod withinâ. They teach that having a relationship with Jesus Christ is NOT necessaryâŚand that all religions are valid.
Christian mysticism is a heresy, and honestly âsmellsâ alot like the ancient Christian heresy of gnosticism that plagued the early Church! What is a heresy? A heresy is a doctrine or false teaching that is a âcontradiction to orthodoxyâ. A heresy is not just a minor error in Biblical interpretation or doctrine. A heresy strikes out against the very Gospel that saves humanityâŚA heresy is an error so serious that it could deprive one of salvation!!!
TRUE Biblical Christianity teaches that only those who are BORN AGAIN, and have received Jesus Christ as our LORD and SAVIOR have the Holy Spirit dwelling within.đĄ The True Gospel recognizes that fallen man cannot DO anything to be justified in the eyes of God. Our sin has separated us from a Holy God. Jesus Christ (God who came in the likeness of human flesh), through His Death and Resurrectionâď¸, tore the veil of separation in half so that all who would BELIEVE on JESUSâ finished work on the Cross would have access to the Father (YHWH). Once we believe that Jesus Christ died to save us from our sin, then we receive Godâs Holy Spirit who dwells within to transform us into the image of Godâs Son. We cannot transform ourselves and those who do not believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and Savior of mankind do NOT have Godâs Holy Spirit dwelling within. This is the real âincovenient truthâ that the world cannot accept.
1 Corinthians 1:18:  For the preaching of the cross âď¸is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.Â
This concept is called âpenal substitutionary atonementâ (Jesus Christ died on the Cross as a substitute for sinners). Penal Substitution has been the back-bone of Godâs saving GOSPEL (GOOD NEWS) for CENTURIES, but is now under DIRECT ATTACK by the emergent church who just canât âaccept a Godâ who would send His own Son to earth to DIE for the sins of mankind! The apostle Peter also had a hard time understanding this; however, this is how Jesus responded to himâŚâGet behind me satanâ
Matthew 16:21:  From that time Jesus began to point out to His disciples that it was necessary for Him to go to Jerusalem and to suffer many things from the elders, chief priests, and scribes, and to be killed, and to be raised up on the third day.Â
22 And yet Peter took Him aside and began to rebuke Him, saying, âGod forbid it, Lord! This shall never happen to You!â 23 But He turned and said to Peter, âGet behind Me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to Me; for you are not setting your mind on Godâs purposes, but menâs.â
True Transformation only comes through FAITH in Jesus Christâs finished work on the Cross giving Holy Spirit the legal means to transform the heartđ of a believer. This is what the Word of God and the TRUE GOSPEL teach!
HOWEVER, these false Christians are teaching that spiritual formation through the spiritual disciplines like âcontemplative prayerâ âtransformsâ the seeker (anyone, not necessarily a believer) by his or her entering into an altered state of consciousness! đ˛
At the heart of the emergent church heresy is the âContemplative prayerâ (also known as âcentering prayerâ. Â Contemplative prayer /contemplative spirituality puts one in danger of communing with demons masquerading as angels of light. In-fact, one of itâs proponents warned of this very thing.
What is contemplative or centering prayer? Often referred to as âgoing into the silence or sacred spaceâ, New Agers and Catholic monks have taught the practice for a long time. Thomas Keating, a Catholic monk, had this to say about contemplative prayer and âthe silenceââŚ
âContemplative prayer is not so much the absence of thoughts as detachment from them. It is the opening of mind, heart, body and emotions â our whole being â to God, the Ultimate Mystery, beyond thoughts, words and emotionsâ
Thomas Keating, Catholic monk
This is not like going into a quiet place to pray. This is about an âinner stillness or stilling of the mindâ. In order to have this âinner silenceâ the mind must be rid of thoughts, and distractions, and this can only be done through a HYPNOTIC, REPETITIVE PRACTICE.
Matthew 6:7: âAnd when you are praying, do not use thoughtless repetition as the Gentiles do, for they think that they will be heard because of their many words.
Brian Flynn, in his book Running With the Wind, provides interesting background to where the technique came from and how widely it is being accepted today. Quoting from his book:
Perhaps the âDesert Fathersâ either came into contact with someone from the East who shared these practices with them, or maybe they stumbled across it themselves. Whatever its origin, this heretical practice (contemplative prayer) has entered our churches virtually unopposed.
Brian Flynn
The purpose of contemplative prayer is supposedly to become more in tune with God. While not found in the Bible, the idea of âcontemplative prayerâ can be found in the âsacred writingsâ of Eastern religions. Further, the idea has been adapted for modern day Christianity and it is becoming very popular. Contemplative (centering prayer) and Christian mysticism is nothing more than new age religion repackaged under the name âChristianâ. It has become popular because many self-proclaimed Christians are seeking a âSpiritual experienceâ rather than the Biblical Jesus Christ. They prefer to reach a spiritual high (Nirvana), rather than read and study their Bibles and follow the Bibleâs prescription for prayer and living a Godly life.
Thomas Merton is considered to be one of the founding fathers of contemplative prayer. His writings and ideas have impacted many today who are advocating that Christianity embrace prayer techniques borrowed from Eastern religion.
Consider the following statement that reflects Mertonâs Buddhist and Hindu beliefs:
It is a glorious destiny to be a member of the human race,⌠now I realize what we all are⌠if only they (people) could all see themselves as they really are⌠I suppose the big problem would be that we would fall down and worship each other⌠At the center of our being is a point of nothingness which is untouched by sin and illusions, a point of pure truth⌠this little point⌠is the pure glory of God in us. It is in everybody.đ˛
Thomas Merton, Trappist monk, theologian and social activist
This is the same lie that Satan used to seduce Eve. Anyone who believes that man can be a god has been duped by the god of this world (Genesis 3: 15).
Contemplative prayer is DANGEROUS. Richard Foster, one of the most well known promoters of contemplative prayer, claims there is reason to be cautious. đ˛Quoting from his book Prayer: Finding the Heartâs True Home:
âI also want to give a word of precaution. In the silent contemplation of God we are entering deeply into the spiritual realm, and there is such a thing as supernatural guidance that is not divine guidance. While the Bible does not give us a lot of information on the nature of the spiritual world, we do know⌠there are various orders of spiritual beings, and some of them are definitely not in cooperation with God and his way! ⌠But for now I want to encourage you to learn and practice prayers of protection⌠âAll dark and evil spirits must now leave.âÂ
Richard Foster, Christian theologian and author
Richard Foster is admitting that contemplative prayer takes the participant into the demonic realm, but gives a disclaimer saying that not everybody is ready for it. đ˛ Are the young people who are enamored with the emergent church âready for itâ? Are they being taken into demonic altered states of consciousness completely unaware?
Contemplative prayer is essentially the same as New Age or Eastern meditation, but disguised with âChristianeseâ terminology. It is a form of Christian mysticism that supposedly brings about a mystical union with God. Those who participate and enter âthe silenceâ, as it is called, open themselves to great deception.
Mantra style meditation is actually divination, where practitioners perform rituals or meditation exercises in order to go into trances (altered consciousness) and then receive information from spiritual entities. Christian meditators ASSUME that they are speaking with GodâŚBut are they?
âThe constant repetiton of his name clears my head of everything but the awareness of his presence. By driving back all other concerns, I am able to create what the ancient Celtic Christians called âthe thin placeâ. The thin place is that spiritual condition wherein the separation between the self and God becomes so thin that âGodâ is able to break through and envelop the soulâ
Tony Campolo, emergent church âprophetâ
This is what the Bible says about divinationâŚ
Leviticus 19: 26: âYou shall not eat any meat with the blood. You shall not practice divination nor soothsaying
Deuteronomy 18: 9-14: âWhen you enter the land which the Lord your God gives you, you shall not learn to imitate the detestable things of those nations. There shall not be found among you anyone who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire, one who uses divination, one who practices witchcraft, or one who interprets omens, or a sorcerer, or one who casts a spell, or a medium, or a spiritist, or one who calls up the dead. For whoever does these things is detestable to the Lord; and because of these detestable things the Lord your God will drive them out before you. You shall be blameless before the Lord your God. For those nations, which you shall dispossess, listen to those who practice witchcraft and to diviners, but as for you, the Lord your God has not allowed you to do so.
The Bible tells us that there would be MANY FALSE PROPHETS in the Last Days. There is a Spirit world, a world that is beyond what we can see with our eyes. The ONLY safe way to enter that world is through the atoning blood of Jesus Christ, our Savior, our Messiah! Mantras, âclearing the mindâ, altered consciousnessâŚis NOT a part of Biblical prayer! If God wants to speak to us, He doesnât have to use these tricks and gimmicks (occult practices) to be heard. God speaks to us on His Terms and in HIS timing⌠not when WE âsummonâ HIM. The TRUE GOD also usually speaks to us through Scripture, through music, and through people we come in contact with every day. Because of the gifting of the Holy Spirit, believers CAN receive audible Words from God but they are not generally the norm, and again, they are on HIS timing, His termsâŚâŚ.not ours. God knows mankind can be easily deceived by the spirit world which is why He set up some very strict parameters and is likely why He usually communicates to His people in non-verbal ways.
What is the difference between divination and legitimate Biblical prophecy?
DIVINATION (contemplative spirituality)đ
- Divination is a demonic counterfeit ability that the devil uses in order to foretell the future. It is the ability to access hidden knowledge or secrets pertaining to a person or a people or an event through demonic sources such as familiar spirits etc.
- The Greek word for divination comes from the root word PYTHON. The Spirit of Python counterfeits the Spirit of Prophecy.
- The devil himself and those under satan also have the ability to counterfeit SOME of the miracles of God. Such signs and wonders that satan performs are reflected through witchcraft, sorcery, divination and all sorts of occult practices.
- The act of divining; a foretelling future events, or discovering things secret or obscure, by the aid of superior beings, or by other than human means.
TRUE PROPHECY FROM GODâď¸
Biblical Prophecy can be defined as â A spoken or written message from God through a person.
- Biblical prophecy ultimately comes from God and focuses on God and His plans.
- Biblical prophecy will always line up and agree with Godâs scripture and true prophecy does not contradict Godâs word.
- True prophecy is always 100% correct unlike the predictions of psychics or false prophets (Deuteronomy 18:21-22).
- True prophecy comes from God. God is the source. It is a gift of the Holy Spirit â 1 Corinthians 12:4-11
- True prophecy must exalt & glorify Jesus. It does not glorify the âprophetâ, nor does it put the prophet on a pedestal â Revelation 19:10, 1 John 4:1-3, John 16:13-14,Â
- True prophecy must lead to obedience to God. When God allows prophecy in the church, it is meant to lead people to a right relationship with Him â Deuteronomy 13:1-5
The practice of contemplative prayer almost invariably leads to ecumenical sympathy and often it leads to heresies of universalism and even pantheism (God is everything) and panentheism (God is in everything). Universalism is the UNBIBLICAL TEACHING that âall are savedâ, all âreligionsâ are valid. This is the build-up to the end of days One World Religion, and it is happening NOW.
The emergent church is literally teaching doctrines of demons by implying or stating that anyone of any religion can âreach Godâ by clearing the mind, repeating mantras, and utilizing centering prayer. Are you shocked? I certainly am! This idea of âspiritual formationâ is being promoted at many major colleges and seminaries as the âlatest and greatestâ way to become a âspiritual leaderâ. đ˛
Those who promote this will tell you that this is an âancient-future movementâ or âvintage Christianityâ. According to this view, mystical experiences practiced centuries ago will attract the âpostmodernâ generation. They are calling this a âworship awakeningâ. They go back to the early church fathers, particulary the âdesert fathersâ, Catholicism and early century monks and mystics. They desire a worship service that will appeal to âbelievers and unbelievers alikeâ. Leonard Sweet (Pastor and theologian) puts it this wayâŚ
âPost moderns want a God they can feel, taste, touch, hear and smell â a full sensory immersion in the divine.â
Leonard Sweet (Pastor and theologian)
Henry Nouwen, a VERY INFLUENTIAL dutch Catholic priest, professor, writer and theologian had this to say when in Sabbatical Journey â
âToday, I personally believe that while Jesus came to open the door to Godâs house, all human beings can walk through that door, whether they know about Jesus or not. Today, I see it as my call to help every person claim his or her OWN WAY TO GODâ
Henry Nouwen
In his book âHere and nowâ, Mr. Nouwen stated..
âThe God who dwells in our inner sanctuary is also the God who dwells in the inner sanctuary of EACH HUMAN BEINGâ
Henry Nouwen
If you recall, in the story of Cain and Abel, both brothers presented a sacrifice to God (YHWH) so that they could come into Communion with Him. HOWEVER, only Abelâs sacrifice was acceptable to GOD (YHWH). Abel offered up an animal (blood) sacrifice (animal sacrifice which points to the time when God would sacrifice His only Son for all humanity). Abel was OBEDIENT to Godâs ways. Rebellious Cain, not willing to follow Godâs prescribed way to commune with Him, attempted a sacrifice of âfruits and veggiesâ. Cain decided he knew better than God and so his sacrifice was REJECTED by God. Cain became so angry and jealous of Abel that he killed his brother (the first murder on planet earth). God (YHWH) has made A WAY to come into Communion with HIM..and itâs through the SHED BLOOD of HIS SON JESUS CHRIST. God will not ALLOW fallen man to come into COMMUNION with HIM by ANY OTHER MEANS. He will reject this attemptâŚand the people trying this will be communing with demons, not with GOD! (YHWH) (Genesis 4:1-8).
This emergent Church heresy is deceiving millions of people! đą
PANTHEISM is the belief that God is in everything. The emergent Church is incorporating Eastern Religion, new age occult practices into mainstream Christianity! đ˛
Acts 20:28:  Be on guard for yourselves and for all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood. 29 I know that after my departure savage wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock; 30 and from among your own selves men will arise, speaking perverse things to draw away the disciples after them.
Jude 1:4: For certain people have crept in (into the church) unnoticed, those who were long beforehand marked out for this condemnation, ungodly persons who turn the grace of our God into indecent behavior and deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ.
Did you know that some churches are even darkening their sanctuaries and setting up prayer stations with candles, incense and icons so that they can provide a âmulti-sensoryâ experience.
Dan Kimball (author and leader of the emerging church âmovementâ.. in his book âCreating a Sacred Space for Vintage Worshipâ stated..
âAesthetics is not an end in itself. But in our culture, which is becoming more multi-sensory and less respectful of God, we have a responsibility to pay attention to the design of the space where we assemble regularly. In the emerging culture, darkness represents spirituality. đ˛We see this in Buddhist temples as well as Catholic and Orthodox churches. Darkness communicates that something serious is happeningâ.
Dan Kimball (leader of emergent church movement)
Something else that is growing more and more popular during âcontemplative prayerâ in many churches is a maze-like structure called a LABYRINTH. Labyrinths are pagan instruments used as occult gateways into the supernatural. Most think of a labyrinth as a maze thatâs easy to get lost in with winding paths and dead ends. A Labyrinth is different than a maze because it is a winding path that leads to the center and back out. These new age, occult practices are making their way into mainstream Christian churches. In a Christianity Today article titled âA-maze-ing prayerâ Dan Kimball (a leader of the emerging church movement) describes how he and his wife went through a labryinth at the National Pastorâs Convention.đ˛ He had this to say about the labrynthâŚ
âMeditative prayer like that we experienced in the labyrinth resonates with hearts of emerging generations. If we had the room we would set up a permanent labyrinth to promote deeper prayer. Until then, however, Graceland will continue to incorporate experiential prayer and encourage our people to stop, quiet themselves and prayâ
Dan Kimball, leader of the emerging church
Lauren Artress, canon of Grace Cathedral in San Francisco, is considered the modern day catalyst for the labyrinth. One article explains:
âFor her (Artress), the labryinth is for the âtransformation of human personality in progressâ that can accomplish a âshift in consciousness as we seek spiritual maturity as a speciesâ. Artress says she walked her first labyrinth at a seminar in 1991 with psychologist and mystic/channeler Jean Houston, who several years ago famously assisted first Lady Hillary Clinton in trying to contact the departed spirit of Eleanor RooseveltâŚShe calls her discovery of the labyrinthâŚone of the âmost astonishing events of my lifeâ. For her, the labyrinth is a spiritual tool meant to awaken us to the deep rhythm that unites us to ourselves and to the Light that calls from withinâ
Lauren Artress says the âsacred geometry of the labyrinth is based on ancient, sacred knowledgeâ and she sees the labyrinth as a way to connect with the âdivine feminineâ. đ˛
There is NO âdivine feminineâ, this is PAGAN, OCCULTIC stuff!
I hope you are finding this as eye-opening and yet disturbing as we did. Can you can see how seductive this âmystical movementâ is, and how it is running away with the apostate Church?? Wow! đą The other night, my husband and I watched a documentary titled âAmerican Gospel, Christ crucifiedâ. We will post the trailer for the movie at the bottom of this post. Very popular Pastors and teachers are using the Name of Jesus and then rejecting Jesusâ own Words in the Bible! These teachers and Pastors are creating AND contacting IDOLS or âgodsâ carved out of their own imaginations (DEMONIC REALM)âŚand worse, they are teaching others to do likewise. Many of these heretical concepts are even being taught in mainstream SEMINARIES!
Luke 6:40: A student is not above the teacher; but everyone, when he has been fully trained, will be like his teacher.
Have you heard of Richard Rohr? Until a few nights ago, I had not heard of him. Apparently he is a Catholic âmysticâ who has become extremely popular with those who call themselves âyoung evangelicalsâ. He and his âdisciplesâ have written many books that are even being promoted at MAINSTREAM SEMINARIES, MOPS (mothers of preschoolers â Christian womenâs group), and other Christian groups.
Richard Rohr is a self-proclaimed panentheist. In his book âThe Universal Christâ Rohr makes a distinction between Jesus and âThe Christ.â This is a major theme of the book.
âChrist is a good and simple metaphor for absolute wholeness, complete incarnation, and the integrity of creation. Jesus is the archetypal human just like us, who showed us what Full Human might look like if we could fully live into it
Richard Rohr, Catholic Mystic and self-proclaimed panentheist
Panentheism means âall is in God,â this view equates the universe with God (like pantheism) but allows God to have a separate identity distinct from the universe (unlike pantheism). In panentheism, everything that exists is contained within God, but God is separate from and greater than everything that exists.â Panentheism is unbiblical since it denies Godâs transcendent nature, says that God is changing, confuses creation with God, denies miracles, and denies the incarnation of Christ along with the atoning sacrifice).
Rohrâs The Universal Christ is Amazonâs number-one book in both Christology and Christian ethicsđ˛, and it was blurbed by U2 singer Bono. Oprah Winfrey interviewed Rohr in 2015 and in 2019.
âAncient mysticism is entering the church as Satan re-packages his age-old deceptions.â
âThe Tragic Influence of Catholic Priest Richard Rohrâs Mysticism on Millennial Evangelicalsâđ˛
In the midst of a current crisis where young people raised in the evangelical church are leaving the faith of their childhoods and becoming New Agers, atheists, emergent, or Catholic, highly popular seasoned evangelical leaders have helped to escalate the crisis rather than help alleviate it. In a 2018 article, Lighthouse Trails wrote about one of these âseasonedâ evangelical Rohr endorsers:
đşIn an interview between Gloria Gaither (Christian singer, songwriter, author)âŚand Catholic mystic monk, Richard Rohr, Gaither said: âFirst of all, I want to say thank you to you [Richard Rohr] because so many of your books have been impacting my life, especially âFalling Upwardâđ. I think that changed my thinking about . . . just about everything. We have studied that book in our Monday night Bible study.đ˛â
đşEugene Peterson (best known for inaccurate and confusing âthe messageâ translation of the Bible) also promotes Richard Rohr as is explained in Lois Putnamâs article, âWilliam Paul Young (THE SHACK AUTHOR) & His Connection with Panentheist Richard Rohr.â
Remember, these panentheists are CLAIMING to be CHRISTIAN and POPULAR EVANGELICAL LEADERS are PROMOTING THEIR TEACHINGS! đą
đşAnother person who has embraced Rohr is Richard Foster (Lauded by âChristianity Todayâ, whose books are promoted to one degree or another by the majority of Christian colleges and seminaries). Foster had Rohr on an advisory board for a 2010 book Foster edited titled 25 Books Every Christian Should Read: A Guide to the Essential Devotional Classics.
đşAnd then there is IF Gathering The leaders of IF are dynamic energetic women who hold large conferences geared primarily toward young evangelical women. While these women may be sincere in what they are trying to do, they promote figures such as emergent leaders Brian McLaren and Rob Bell, as well as Richard Rohr.
đşAdele Ahlberg Calhoun also promotes Rohr in at least two of her books, including The Spiritual Disciplines Handbook (a book that many evangelical groups have turned to, including Saddleback Church, even though it is packed with the contemplative/emergent element).
As our last example (though there are many more), Elisa Morgan, the founder and former director of MOPS International (Mothers of Preschoolers), quotes Rohr favorably in her book The Beauty of Broken.
Are we saying all of these Rohr-endorsers believe in all of Rohrâs New Ageism? Not necessarily, but we are showing how much Rohr has influenced Christianity.
You see, Rohr has found his way into the deepest veins of evangelicalism.đ˛
Rohr wrote the foreword to a 2007 book called How Big is Your God? by Jesuit priest (from India) Paul Coutinho. In Coutinhoâs book, he describes an interspiritual community where people of all religions (Hinduism, Buddhism, and Christianity) worship the same God. đ˛
Letlâs take heed of the Apostle Paulâs words of caution to the Church:
2 Corinthians 11:3 But I am afraid that, as the serpent deceived Eve by his trickery, your minds will be led astray from sincere and pure devotion to Christ. 4 For if one comes and preaches another Jesus whom we have not preached, or you receive a different spirit which you have not received, or a different gospel which you have not accepted, this you tolerate very well!
Emerging Church leaders are comparing their movement to the Reformation. In a PBS interview, Phyllis Tickle (best selling author and founding editor of the religion department of Publisherâs Weekly) said thisâŚ
âThe church has a giant rummage sale. Christianity is in the midst of a new reformation that will radically remake the faith.
Phyllis Tickle, best selling author and founding editor of the religion department of Publsherâs Weekly
These emergent Church leaders are touting this heresy as the âNew Reformationâ; however, what they are really doing is attempting to REVERSE Martin Lutherâs Reformation of the past.. During Martin Lutherâs reformation, people were turned TO the Word of God and âSola Scripturaâ...The Church came out of darkness and into Godâs glorious light as Bibles began to be translated and printed inTO many languages so that the common person could read the Word of God for themselves. But today, rather than pointing the lost to the Biblical Jesus Christ of Nazareth and the Word of God, many are being led to dogmas, traditions of men, eastern religion and extra-Biblical experiences.
As one would expect in New Age, occult and Eastern religions...sexuality in this supposed ânew reformationâ (emergent Church) accepts and even promotes homosexuality and other lifestyles that the Bible calls sinâŚâŚagain leading itâs followers AWAY from the God of the Bible (YHWH) and the Biblical Jesus Christ of Nazareth.
Luke 18:7: now, will God not bring about justice for His elect who cry out to Him day and night, and will He delay long for them? 8 I tell you that He will bring about justice for them quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will He find faith on the earth?
Thankfully, there is a remnant of Bible beliving Christians, but we are fast becoming the minority. Those of us who hold to the Word of God will be persecuted, mocked and ridiculed. As the world and the emergent church prepare for the man of peace (antichrist), those who hold fast to a Biblical view of the Christ (Messiah â the BIBLICAL Jesus of Nazareth) and the end-times will be seen as narrow-minded, trouble-makers, a menace to the âuniversal churchâ that will include all faithsâŚ. and the world government.
The emergent church is tapping into occult practices. The ecumenical process to unite with Rome and other religions is already happening. Many are embracing âexperienced based spiritualityâ through the promotion of contemplative/centering prayer. We can expect manifestations of the spiritual dimension to appear and deceptive signs and wonders to abound.
These lying signs and wonders will be so effective that the majority of the worldâs population will be seduced into believing that the uniting of the worldâs religions under the âUniversal Christâ (Not Jesus Christ) for the cause of peace is a very good thing. They will receive the antichrist.
2 Thessalonians 2:8: Then that lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will eliminate with the breath of His mouth and bring to an end by the appearance of His coming; 9 that is, the one whose coming is in accord with the activity of Satan, with all power and false signs and wonders,
How can we navigate SUCCESSFULLY through this extreme deception?? Know the Word of God and believe it! Trust in Jesus and lean NOT on our own understanding. Jesus IS THE CHRIST (anointed One)! The âCosmic Christâ is an end-time DECEPTION! Jesus warned us that at the time of the end, perilous times would come. The Lord Jesus Christ and His Holy Spirit will protect His people, those who yield their own will to the will of the Father. One of the most-telling signs of a deception is when Pastors, authors, or theolgians desire to âknow Godâ on their own terms, leaning on their own understanding rather than appreciating the TRUE GOD who reveals HIMSELF in HIS WRITTEN WORD. Whenever I hear the phrase âI could never believe in a God whoââŚfill in the blank, I know that person is deceived.
God Bless and LOOK UP! Prophecy is being fulfilled! Jesus is coming SOON!!! đđđĽ°
If you want more information on this topic, we highly recommend the book âFaith Undoneâ by Roger Oakland, from which much of the information in this post came. We only scratched the surface. There is so much more! Also, we included the trailer for âAmerican Gospel, Christ crucifiedâ below. You can find the full length of this movie/documentary available on Amazon Prime.
